Udupi, Oct 11: The first additional CJ and JMFC court has sentenced a three-wheeler goods vehicle driver to two years and six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for driving his vehicle negligently and too fast thus causing the death of a pedestrian.
Varamballi resident Dinesh Nayak oversped his three-wheeler in a negligent manner from Barkur to Brahmavar on March 28, 2017 at about 7.45 pm ramming into Gopala standing beside the road in front of Ganesh stores, Handadi village. Gopala suffered critical injuries on his head and died.
The Brahmavar station police circle inspector registered a case and submitted a charge sheet to the court. As the crime was established, the court slapped the prison term and fine on the accused.
Assistant government prosecutor Mohini K argued the case for the government.
