Bantwal, Oct 13: Sarapadi resident Devadas Naik has entertained people wearing the costumes of a ghost and collected Rs 57,000 to help poor families. He handed over the amount for the treatment of two poor children with kidney ailments and for meeting the expenses of a wedding of a girl from a poor family.
Naik handed over the amount to the two families concerned at Sarapadi Sharabheshwara temple.
Chief priest Shankernarayana Holla conveyed his wishes by means of prayers. A sum of Rs 30,000 was handed over for the treatment of two children of the family residing in Kalladka while Rs 20,000 was handed over for the wedding of a poor girl residing at Maninalkur grama. The remaining amount of Rs 7,000 was handed over for the renovation of Sarapadi temple.
Temple priest Jayarama Karanth, locals Umesh Alva Kottunja, Suresh Shetty Miyar, Dinesh Gowda Nirolpse, Anand Shetty Bachakere, Shubhakar Rai Kottunja, Girish Naik Neerapalke, Sathish Gowda Koppala, Narayana Devadiga Hollaraguthu, Chandrashekar Naik and Laxmi, mother of Devadas were present.
