Osama's Path Cannot be Called 'Islamic terrorism': Karunanidhi

Chennai, May 4 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi Tuesday said the path taken by the slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden cannot be termed as "Islamic terror" as Islam means peace.

Writing for DMK's official newspaper "Murasoli", Karunanidhi said Islam preaches peace and tolerance.

Condemning terrorism of any form, Karunanidhi cited an adage "those who take the knife, will get killed by it", and said it has come true in the case of bin Laden.

He said anger against any person cannot be justified in the form of terrorism.

According to him, terrorism, be it religious, national, Left or right wing or any other form, should be nipped in the bud.

Just because bin Laden took to terrorism to achieve his goal, it cannot be called Islamic terrorism, he wrote.
