Mangaluru, Oct 14: The locals of Lobo Compound Dandakeri near Yeyyadi have decided to boycott the upcoming elections after elected representatives failed to develop the area since 30 years.
The locals have installed banners boycotting elections. The area has been untouched since 30 years without any kind of basic facilities. People are finding it difficult to walk on the road, there are no street lights, and the public have to carry patients to the main road as they do not have proper roads. If anyone falls sick, they have to shift the person on a wheel chair as there is no proper road for vehicle to move.
The locals have been constantly visiting the elected representatives and officials’ office demanding basic facilities but the assurance never became a reality.
One of the locals said, “There was an instance of chain snatching in this area. There are no proper roads or water facility. Even GAIL gas connection has not reached this area. A retaining wall has been built which might collapse anytime. We have been demanding the development of this area from Congress’ tenure. Now BJP has come to power, four mayors have changed but they are of no use at all.”
“If our demands are not fulfilled, we will undertake hunger strike. In this area, there are 2,000 votes. We will boycott the upcoming elections,” said another local.
