Karnataka's response to Bharat Jodo Yatra leaves ruling BJP worried

By M.K. Ashoka

Bengaluru, Oct 15 (IANS): As he marched ahead on his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi noticed an old woman standing with two cucumbers in her hand and struck up a conversation with her.

The woman explained that she had grown the cucumbers in the land allotted to her under 'Land to the Tiller Policy' at the time when Rahul Gandhi's grandmother, Indira Gandhi, was Prime Minister. He looked visibly moved towards the end of their conversation.

Karnataka is one of the few states where the policy under which the land was given to a poor farmer who tilled it, was very effectively implemented. The then Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs ensured distribution of land to poor tillers from landlords who owned hundreds of acres.

Lakhs and lakhs of beneficiaries of this policy still keep a photo of Indira Gandhi in their homes and have deep respect for the Congress party for giving them a new lease of life through ownership of land, which remained a distant dream for generations.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has been successful in reminding the people of one of the greatest achievements of the party. The youngsters who are observing the tumultuous developments in the state are taking note and researching about the social revolution which was brought without bloodshed nearly five decades ago.

The yatra entered Karnataka through Chamarajanagar, considered as one of the most backward districts. Then it reached Mysuru district during Dusshera and passed through Mandya, Tumakuru and Chitradurga.

It is now passing through Ballary district.

While Rahul Gandhi has claimed that the party would win the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called the Congress leader "a small boy who is treating senior leaders according to his whims and fancies and they are readily dancing to his tunes".

In a similar remark, former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa also called Rahul Gandhi a "bachcha" (child).

Karnataka State Congress President D.K., Shivakumar who was summoned to attend an inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) amid the Bharat Jodo Yatra, was also used by the party to its advantage.

Shivakumar stated that he is being troubled to disturb the rally and attended the inquiry in New Delhi.

The yatra which will be taken up for 21 days in Karnataka will cover 511 km.

The Grand Old Party is also confident of making an impact in the state's north and the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

In response to the yatra, BJP leaders in the state have launched tours, with Chief Minister Bommai announcing one under his leadership.

Congress leaders confide that the unity shown by Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar when Rahul Gandhi is around, is maintained till the Assembly elections so that they can wrestle power.

It is not easy to win election under the fascist government. We are seeing how Kannada media and all institution working in favor of BJP including election commission of India. We witnessed how they defered anouncing date for Gujrat election. Also we have clear example of last UP election we thought people will defeat so unpopular Yogi govt after Covid disaster and Farmer protest. But still Yogi came back to power.People dont want good government and employement. They just addicted to Hindutva fascism.

As far as AAP and SDPI is there, BJP need not worry about Congress. They may concentrate more on retaining Hindutva votes. Bjps Critics , Dongis, Bolts, rice bags, urban naxals, ganji giraakis ,presstitutes, online warriors etc anyways have not or wont vote for BJP. So no need to worry abt them.

It's true that Urs gave a second lease of political life to Indiraji. Remember Chickmagalur 1980? Forget what happened between Urs and Indiraji. It is a fact that Indiraji was worshipped as Goddess those days! There were Countless of Bhakts of her then ! There are a few still ! Karnataka was the strongest Bastion of the Congress then! To think that the State is now ruled the BJP and has sent 25 BJP MPs to the LS in 2019 is astonishing ! Unbelievable like !! The nadir which the Congress has reached is because of it's own doing, complacency and taking everything for granted !! You can just imagine its mis rule to have reached such a stage ! That BJP has erred in governance has given it a sniff of a chance here. Here only. However, with the Congress's dismal record and of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, one must wait and watch.

Note - 'Land to the Tiller Policy' enjoyed during HE Indira Gandhi Karnataka is one of the few states where the policy under which the land was given to a poor farmer who tilled it, was very effectively implemented. The then Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs ensured distribution of land to poor tillers from landlords who owned hundreds of acres. -Note - Now present government want to give those land to corporates - Public think about it . The problem is that presently people don't know how to mange the land because their parents fed them till their death bed. Children know only present easy life at their parents cost. Note-Want say don't believe the ruling government any time. Any other party will do.

Unite and Divide are two different phenomenons can never co-exist together. Unite derives strength in people and makes the nation stronger whereas divide deprives strength in people and makes the nation weaker. Compare yourself before 2014 and after 2014 and decide.
