Mangaluru, Oct 16: In one of the major developments in digitalisation of the banking sector, Karnataka Bank has taken a giant leap by launching two digital banking units (DBUs) in Mangaluru (Dayagvijaya Residency, Airport Road, Yeyyadi, Konchady) and Mysuru (Arjun Arcade Jayachamarajendra Road Devaraja Mohalla, Vijayanagara 1st stage Mysuru).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the programme of 75 Digital Banking Units in 75 districts of the country as part of India’s Amrutha Mahosthava. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present at the virtual launch programme.
Karnataka Bank’s service offerings under DBU
Savings Bank account opening (through multi-function kiosk, tab, web with EKYC/Video KYC), cash withdrawal through ATM/CDR, cash deposits through cash deposit machines, transfer of funds (NEFT/IMPS support) mobile banking, activation/registration of mobile app, customer complaints passbook printing, instant debit card issuance, block credit /debit card, unblock debit card, receipt and online processing of various standing instructions, updating of KYC / other personal details, customer feedback and customer survey, insurance on-boarding for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, onboarding of customer Atal Pension Yojana, SMS banking facility, lead generation for-retail and MSME loans, application for loans for MSME, housing Loan, vehicle loan are available in the kiosk up to in-principle, sanction/approval, personal loan processing is available end to end.

Fastag issuance digital portal, demat and Online trading opening, Karnataka Bank Insta-Pay bill payment (Municipal Taxes, hospital, tax, mobile post-paid, LPG cylinder, electricity, insurance premium, Fastag, water bill), online loan repayment, KBL school Fee payment online, positive pay system for cheques, online submission of 15H/G, online safe deposit locker, Karnataka Bank co-branded credit card and other facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of digitalisation of the banking sector is a great revolution. Dakshina Kannada is a 'Kashi' in the banking sector. The banking sector in Dakshina Kannada has contributed to the banking sector and growth of the economy."
He lauded Karnataka Bank's service to the customers.
He also said that through the digitalisation of banking processes the benefits of several schemes of government are being transferred directly into the accounts of beneficiaries.
Demonetisation has helped to curtail terrorism activities. The process of digitalisation of banks and paperless banking has made it people friendly.
Also, he said the Karnataka Bank's facility will reach every corner of the state.
Mahabaleshwara M S, managing director & CEO of Karnataka Bank said, "Karnataka Bank has two DBU units in Mangaluru and Mysuru. Karnataka Bank has given additional nine services to the customers. The DBU will have two staff members to assist the customers. The unit will run 24/7. Customers can have access to various facilities through this unit."
MLA Bharath Shetty also spoke on the occasion and lauded the Karnataka Bank.
Mayor Jayanand Anchan, deputy mayor Poornima, MLC Pratha Simha Nayak and Prof MB Puranik were present on the occasion.
