Kundapur, Oct 18: A Shirur-based entrepreneur has died of electrocution when he was working in the cultivation as his ladder came in contact with a live electric wire.
The deceased has been identified as Sathish Subraya Prabhu (52), a Shirur-based entrepreneur, a BJP activist and president of Shirur Government Pre-university college progress committee.
He was a progressive farmer and had passionately indulged in social, educational and religious sectors. He was a senior member of the RSS, member of Pete Venkataramana temple committee and religious leader. His demise has shocked many of his well-wishers.
Usually there used to be a power failure here on Tuesday but it was a tragic day for the residents.
He was the son of retired revenue officer Subraya Prabhu and was the proprietor of Dressland textile shop for several years. He used to involve himself in several programmes and was also their sponsor.
His ladder came in contact with a live electric wire when he was cutting coconuts along with the workers. The incident occurred as the electric cables here are at a lower height.
