Udupi, May 5: The incident of a father, who was mentally unstable killing his ten-year-old son has been reported from Atrady – Kadiyadikodi, near here on Wednesday May 4 night.

The deceased has been identified as Vishwas, who was killed by his 48-year-old father Vasudev Nayak. The boy was strangled to death with a rope at their house.

Vasudev Nayak was jobless since two years, earlier to which he was working as a cook and juice-maker for Malaysian students at Manipal. His wife is working as a cleaning staff at KMC Hospital, Manipal.

While his wife left for night duty on Wednesday evening, both her husband and son Vishwas were playing a game of dices at home. When she returned home on Thursday early morning from work, the door was locked. She opened the door with her key and found Vishwas strangled with a rope. It is surprising to note that her younger daughter Vijeta, who was sleeping beside the son remained unharmed. Her husband Vasudev who was not to be seen anywhere had locked the door after the heinous crime. Jewellery in total three sovereigns and some cash is missing.

The body has been taken to KMC Hospital, Manipal to perform autopsy.

Manipal police have registered a case in this regard and taken up the investigations.

This is really sad...a trusted father kills own son..not sure what went through his mind when he did this evil action..the poor mom is totally heart broken. the least society and govt could do now is to assess such risks in the society and take preventive action.I am wondering why his community leaders didn't help this family when this guy lost the job..sad..to be honest a church like community system works much better in these modern times when family values and helping have diminished in the society.

Poor lady the mother of Vishwas. She has to work hard passing sleepless nights to bring up her two children. She must be also feeding her useless husband who is jobless for two years and in return what she got? She lost her son! It’s very painful for a mother. Lord give her the strength & courage to sustain this irreparable loss and may the soul of little Vishwas rest in peace.

In undivided DK, there are plenty of jobs available like cooly, mall & office cleaning, security, restaurant waiters etc,
I can bet this man is not mentally unstable. If this was the case, his wife would have taken precaution as she is working woman. How come he will run away with the Jewellery in total three sovereign and some cash ?

Request police personnel make him physically unstable so that this type of crime will not be repeated. Extremly sad to hear this terrible disturbing news. Who can console the mother?
