Mangaluru, Oct 20: "On the occasion of Deepavali, the Saint Mother Teresa Forum Mangaluru has organised a programme on Monday, October 24 in Sandesha Foundation at Nanthoor at 5.30 pm," said Roy Castelino, president of the Saint Mother Teresa Forum Mangalore.
Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, October 20, he also informed that a Gudu Deepa competition has been organised on Monday, October 24. The participants should arrive at the venue between 10 am and 2 pm and arrange Gudu Deepa at the place fixed by the organisers, he added.
The Gudu Deepa should be created by oneself without using ready-made materials. Functional and artistically designed Gudu Deepa are preferred. The artwork should not exceed 3.2 feet in length. The first, second and third place cash and memento and two consolation prizes will be given to the winners, he said.
The registration should be done by Saturday, October 22 within 4 pm.

The Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Peter Paul Saldanha will inaugurate the programme, and president of the forum Roy Castelino will preside over the programme. Vice-chancellor of Mangalore University professor P Subrahmanya Yedapadithaya and chief correspondent of Vijaya Karnataka Mohammad Arif will be the chief guests. The cultural programme will be held by the children of Swaranjali Music School and Rev Walter Albuquerque Memorial Group.
The organisers also informed that Deepavali was being celebrated to spread harmony in society. In the upcoming days, Christmas and Ramzan will also be observed by the forum.
Forum secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal and former mayor Ashraf also spoke on the occasion. Organiser Sushil Noronha, former corporator Prakash Salian, activist Devadas, Sumathi Hegde and Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh's Stany Lobo were present at the press meet.
