Mangaluru, Oct 21: Though the results of degree exams of Mangalore University were announced quite some time ago, the students have still not received the marks cards, which is hampering their higher education.
Complaints are heard that students who wish to pursue higher education in other universities or apply for job are unable to do so as the marks cards are still not issued.
The marks cards of first four semesters is already given. However, fifth semester marks card is still not given to students, though it is six months after the results are announced. The plight of sixth semester students is still worse. They are yet to get their results.
In addition, the students are deprived from getting scholarships, join hostels and get bus passes due to inordinate delay in marks card issue.
The evaluation of answer papers of sixth semester is over recently. Though the university has decided to publish the results at the end of October, it will be difficult according to lecturers. Once the results are declared it will take at least a month to give marks card with design. So the students of sixth semester will have to invariably wait till the end of this year according to sources in the university.
Prof P L Dharma, registrar evaluation of Mangalore University said, “We are busy in announcing the results of sixth semester by the end of October according to the instructions of state government. The exams of third and fifth semester is held recently. The results of fifth semester will be announced soon on priority.”
