Bantwal, Oct 21: The team of Bantwal rural station police has arrested an interstate thief in connection with a theft that occurred a year ago.
The accused is identified as Mohammed Alakkod, a resident of Kannur.
The police have seized jewellery worth about Rs 4.5 lacs from him. Jewellery worth several lacs was stolen from the house of Ajilamogaru resident Khader on January 30, 2021. The police have arrested the accused in connection with the theft.
Notorious thief
Mohammed Alakkod has more than 200 theft cases in Kerala registered against him. He has opened his account of thefts in Dakshina Kannada district. Police have come to know during investigations that he has stolen valuables at more than ten places in the district.
Details of more thefts may come to light during his interrogation.
The police team in the leadership of Bantwal rural police inspector T D Nagaraj and SI Harish conducted the arrest operation under the guidance of Bantwal DySP Pratap Singh Torat and directions from SP Hrishikesh Sonavane.
