Hubballi, Oct 23: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has accused Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi of following appeasement politics to hike terror activities and other scandals during its rule.
Speaking to media persons at the Hubballi airport on way to Savadatti to attend the funeral of State Assembly Deputy Speaker Anand Mamani at his native place, the chief minister strongly disapproved former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for criticising RSS and BJP for fomenting violence and communal clashes and said the attack on RSS was part of Congress strategy to hide its misdeeds while in power.
“RSS is a nationalist organisation, which is wedded to the unity and integrity of the country,’’ he said asking Congress leaders not to view everything with jaundiced eyes.
Bommai said Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leaders must seriously introspect on the incidents in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. “All must appreciate the strong steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime in ensuring internal security and the decisive leadership has been appreciated by Muslim countries,” he said.
The chief minister refuted the Congress charge that communalism is on the rise under BJP rule. The developments in Rajasthan prove the true colours of Congress, he said.
Later, he visited Savadatti and paid last respects to the mortal remains of Anand Mamani. State Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, ministers Murugesh Nirani, Govind Karjol and C C Patil as well as MLA Mahadevappa Yadavada and MLC Laxman Savadi were present.
