Udupi, Oct 26: A car, which could not negotiate a steep downward slope that is built at the bend near Canara Bank on national highway at Parkala, landed up on a newly built drain without protection wall.

The car was was plying from Udupi to Bengaluru. Road work is in progress at Kelaparkala. The alternative route is completely spoilt and unmotorable. Thousands of vehicles including ambulances commute on this road. The road is dangerous for drivers who do not drive on this stretch everyday.

The MLA of Udupi had assured to get the concrete work of the road done within 15 days. It is almost three months now since he promised. Two-wheelers often skid and fall at this downward slope everyday. Locals say that there are no signs of the work getting completed though monsoon stopped nearly two weeks ago.
