Hubballi, Oct 31: A city-based contractor, who supplied equipment to gram panchayats during Covid-19, has written a letter to the President of India asking for euthanasia, alleging that his bills are not paid as the government officials are demanding 40% commission and he is devastated due to the mounting loans.
Contractor Basavaraja Amaragola, resident of Manoj Park on Keshwapur-Sullia Road has appealed to President, prime minister, governor and chief minister seeking euthanasia.
In his appeal, Basavaraja said, “In 2020-21, according to the orders of union and state governments, I supplied Covid equipment to gram panchayats of Kadur amounting to Rs 85 lac and gram panchayats of Moodigere taluk amounting to Rs 27 lac. Even after two years the bills are not passed by the EO of taluk panchayat. The EO is asking for 40 percent commission in the name of MLA and other officials.
“A directive is sent from offices of PM and CM as well as additional secretary of Panchayat Raj department but the taluk panchayat officials have not passed the bill. I am mentally devastated due to the continuous harassment by the lenders,” he said.
Manoj has also sent all the documents and the audio in which the demand for percentage by the EO of taluk panchayat is recorded.
