Bengaluru, Oct 31: The 67th Rajyotsava Day to mark the formation of Karnataka State will be celebrated in a grand and meaningful manner on Tuesday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced in Bengaluru on Monday.
Addressing a news conference at Vidhana Soudha, he announced details of the Global Investors Meet 2022 being virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 2, Wednesday at Bengaluru Palace Grounds and also the details of Karnataka Rajyotsava and conferring of the Karnataka Ratna award posthumously on Kannada power star Puneeth Rajkumar on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister appealed to all schools and colleges as well as associations and companies besides offices of all local bodies and government offices to celebrate the Rajyotsava on Tuesday in a befitting manner and also hoist the Kannada flag throughout the State.
The Rajyotsava Award Presentation to 67 selected persons will be done at the Ravindra Kalakshetra and the Karnataka Ratna award will be conferred on Puneeth Rajkumar posthumously in front of Vidhana Soudha, he said.
Karnataka’s ambitious Global Investors Meet 2022 will be held on November 2, 3 and 4, Bommai said indicating that the State Government was anticipating investments to the tune of Rs 5 lakh crore or even more.
Bommai said the GIM 2022 will be an indicator of the path of industrial progress of Karnataka over the next 5 years and said several prominent industrialists and even multi-national companies were expected to sign deals for taking up new industrial ventures in the State.
The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister will also be inaugurating the Second Terminal of the Bengaluru International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) and unveiling the 108 ft tall statue of the Bengaluru founder Kempegowda in front of the Kempegowda international airport in the sprawling theme park on November 11.
The Prime Minister will also be flagging off the Vande Bharat Express Train Service linking Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru and also giving the green signal for the Highspeed Rail project for the State Capital, Bommai said adding: The Prime Minister will be addressing a public meeting on November 11.
Answering questions, Bommai said the DGP Praveen Sood has already been asked to conduct a comprehensive probe into the death of suspended police Inspector Nandeesh of KR Purama and all the allegations, including the alleged payment of Rs 70-80 lakh to get the posting at KR Puram.
In response to another question on former Chief Minister and Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah obtaining a loan of Rs 1.5 crore reportedly for constructing a house, the Chief Minister said the person concerned was free to approach the Lokayukta with a complaint and it will certainly be examined.
"I don’t want to make any comments like what the opposition leaders are doing,’’ he said pointing out that Siddaramaiah has the habit of making baseless allegations.
Earlier, the Chief Minister administered the oath of unity to mark the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, which is being celebrated as national unity day.
