Mangaluru, Nov 2: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that all have got the right to protest in democracy and he has no objection to such activity. He also said that Surathkal toll gate will be removed as per legal procedure.
Speaking to the media, Nalin said, “Those who did not seek toll gate closure during the rule of Congress are protesting now. This is purely political gimmick. Why did the same people not ask for toll gate removal when Oscar Fernandes was the union minister?”
Meanwhile, convener of Surathkal toll gate protest committee, Muneer Katipalla sought the MP Nalin’s resignation if the toll gate is not closed within the deadline.
Muneer said, “The toll gate protest committee is a non-political organization, which has been fighting for the closure of Surathkal toll gate since many years. When we tried to gherao the toll gate, MP Nalin asked for 20 days' time. Let him keep his promise. His deadline gets over on November 7. If he is not able to get the toll gate closed, let him resign.”
Muneer spoke to the media on the fifth day of the protest that is taking place in front of Surathkal toll gate. He further said, “Let the chief minister come to Surathkal toll gate and announce that the toll gate will be closed. If not we will resort to black flag protest in coming days.”
