Bangalore: State Steps Up Security for Foreign Tourists

Bangalore, May 11 (PTI) In compliance with a directive by the Union Home Ministry in the aftermath of the killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, the state has stepped up vigil across the state and also security for foreign tourists, Home Minister R Ashoka said on Wednesday May 11.

Security has been upscaled in places where tourists from USA and Europe throng the state particularly in coastal areas of the state, he told reporters here.

The Centre has directed the state also to keep vigil on regions which house IT industries and also those thickly populated to prevent any terror strike, Ashoka said.

The Centre has issued an alert to maintain vigil and security in the coming one year, he said.

    Safety and security is a mandatory need in this time and age. We do not have to target foreign tourists alone but each one of us need be vigilant in our daily whoever we are and wherever we are.

    India has more than one reason to be on alert on internal security and safety because we are a secular nation and also we are a peace-loving nation with so much focused on democracy. Each and everyone of us - whether in our villages, towns or cities need to watch each other because there are so many elements prevail all around with an intoxicated mind filled with distortion and pervertions. Peace and tranquility also has a premium to pay, and the premium is early focus on all precautions and preventions that go hand in hand for a happy and peaceful co-existence
