Beltangady, Nov 9: A carpenter died of electrocution and another person was seriously injured in an accident that happened on Tuesday, November 8 in the evening near the main market road here.
The deceased is identified as Prashanth Acharya (40), a resident of Sanjayanagar on Beltangady Court road and the injured is identified as Satish Acharya (32), a resident of Malebettu who is out of danger.
Prashanth Acharya had finished his work and was unloading a ladder from a vehicle when it came in contact with a live electric wire killing him on the spot. Satish who was installing a flex nearby was seriously injured.
Prashanth Acharya was a carpenter by profession and also had a goods vehicle that he operated on a hiring basis. The iron ladder touched the flex and came in contact with a live electric wire. Due to the electric shock, both of them were thrown away.
The locals rushed both of them to a hospital where they were admitted. Prashanth did not respond to the treatment and died while Satish recovered.
Prashanth is survived by wife and a four-year-old son.
MLA Harish Poonja, former MLA K Vasanth Bangera, KPCC general secretary Rakshit Shivaram paid a visit to the hospital and the home of the deceased.
