Mangaluru, Nov 11: The accusation on former assistant executive engineer (AE) of PWD of the city, N Narasimharaju of disproportionate assets was proved in the court. The third additional and sessions court sentenced Narasimharaju to three years and six months in prison and fined Rs 25 lac.
A case was filed at Lokayukta of the city, in 2010 against Narasimharaju, resident of Maddaiah Road, Devanahalli, Bengaluru, of possessing assets more than his income. Justice B B Jakati, who conducted the inquiry of the case, pronounced the verdict on November 10. If the accused fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo a further prison sentence of six months.
DySP Sadananda M Varnekar was the complainant. DySP Vittaldas Pai did the investigation and submitted a charge sheet against the accused. Ravindra Mannippadi, special public prosecutor of Lokayukta argued for the prosecution.
One more case of trap was also filed against convict Narasimharaju in 2009 and the same is subjudice.
