Bantwal, May 14:
BJP activists picketed Bantwal rural police station here on Saturday May 14 accusing the additional sub-inspector of misbehaving with BJP leader Kodman Kanthappa Shetty.

A complaint had been filed against Harish Belchada (29), a resident of Kodman of making an illegal entry into a house. In response, the police had summoned Harish to the police station for interrogation.

Kodman Kanthappa Shetty, who is also a member in Meramajalu Grama Panchayat had arrived at the station to settle the case through compromise with the police. But ASI Ravikumar is said to have used abusive language on Kanthappa Shetty and also made an attempt to cane him, it is alleged.

Condemning the treatment meted out by the police, Kanthappa protested against the ASI. When the BJP activists from Merumajalu got whiff of the matter, they thronged the police station and shouted slogans against the ASI and circle inspector Nanjundegowda. Puttur ASP Rohini Katoch also rushed to the station. Later, BJP district president Padmanabh Kottari, Nagaraj Shetty, and others arrived at the spot and urged the SP to take action against the ASI.

Puttur SP assured the protesters of conducting an investigation into the mater within 2 days. Amidst all this, though the BJP activists urged the police to let  Harish Belchada go free, he was arrested as the case against him was already registered.

Bantwal SI Vivekananda and staff provided tight security when the incident took place.

Extremely disturbing news of the BJP supporter They are supposed to be respectful & protector of woman where as here they support a trespasser who entered a woman's house and abused her. Abusing a woman, Isn't it the act of crime? How come all BJP supporters are defending this act.

Let's take a U turn and look from other side to analyze the situation.

If Harish Belchada's house if some male enters and abuses the same language what Harish Belchada done here in this case , to Harish Belchada’s wife/mother/sister, what might Harish Belchada reaction. What will be the reaction of BJP? This shows all these supporters has no morale values at all and BJP supporter here has deficit of morale value.

Wish no male person should repeat this heinous act what Harish Belchada done here.

I know Mr. Kodman Kanthappa Shetty (with Thick Mustache- Meese)very well. He is really a Gentleman, Gem of a Jewel. Being a political leader, number of times he has helped local people without any discreminate of caste, creed & religion as far as Police cases are concerned. He tries his best to settle the matter imicably, and later advice them not repeat the same in future. Being a Bunt he respects each and everyone in the village, He never uses singular form to address anybody, while talking even to Schedlue castes he says not "E" (in kannada Ninu) but ERR (Neeu). He has done lot of good work in our Panchyath so even Muslims and Christians supported him, and appreciated his selfless service. Late Rev. Fr. Isidore Noronha then Parish Priest settled number of Christian land disputes with the help this KODMAN KANTHAPPA SHETTY. So there are good people in BJP too. So this police case is also similar I guess.

Police should not entertain interference of Politicians in law and order matters. Goondas will get a upper hand and the lives of common man will be in danger.

Ravi Mangalore, look at the cause of protest & then comment please. Harish Belchada was arrested for making an illegal entry into a house. Who invited this shameless politician to poke his nose in the matter when the police dept. is doing its duty ? Is he above the law ? If I make an illegal entry into your house, do you want a shameless politician to come and solove the issue amicably or you would want the idiot who entered your house to be punished ? BJP Chiefs & its members are ever ready to support rapists and looters.

Political leaders think that ‘Police’ is there to serve their interests. There is urgent requirement to enact the laws which will ensure that there is no meddling by politicians in the appointment and functioning of the law enforcing authorities. I still remember when one of the SI’s from Mangalore was transferred to ‘Nelamanagala’ for not obeying the orders of the political leader. People who come to support these leaders are not ‘hired goons’ who will switch sides if you throw some more money.

It is a simple matter and could be sorted it out in local level. But it surprising to note that DK BJP Chief and Cabinet rank holder Nagaraj Shetty also @ the scene not sounds well for discharging official duties of police department.Having said that Police official who used abusive languages against KK Shetty needed to be investigated also.

Why it Happens again & again in Bantwal Rural Police Station only?
Do these politicians want the law to take the direction(toe) they want it to?
Why these people shouldn't be arrested for interfering & hindering in the discharge of Official Duty by the police?
Arrogance of Power isn't good for civil society in the long run.

ASI using abusive or foul language is not acceptable is need to be addressed in correct forum. Does Political leaders render same support to common man who is often harrassed by Police??? How biased these political leaders, if police take action against their party worker who is alleged to illegally entered a house of lady, Mr.Shetty complaint to the SP to take action. When same police harass inocent minority people they appreciate Police for good work. Mr. Nagaraj Shetty you need to do more of these things as you need to win next time and become minister.
