Beltangady: Father, son die after consuming poisonous mushrooms mistakenly

Beltangady, Nov 22: In a tragic incident that is reported from Puduvettu in the taluk, two members of a family died as they mistakenly consumed poisonous mushrooms brought from the forest.

The deceased are identified as Guruva (75) and his son Odi (45). The family of three lives under abject poverty. Locals saw their mortal remains of the duo in front of the house on Tuesday morning and were concerned.

Prima facie it looks that the deceased have consumed dish made of poisonous mushroom that they must have picked from the nearby forest. As another son was not at home, he survived. People’s representatives and locals gathered at the spot.

Dharmasthala police visited the spot and are investigating further.

    Any so called desh bahkts visit the house??? wait a minute !!! Those who died are hindus but they died due to consuming mushrooms. If they got murdered then so called deshbahkts would have visited the house and blamed the other community. They would have ask govt for NIA investigation and also lakhs of rupees as compensation. But sadly these died people are poor. So we cannot expect any politics here. Sadly Hindu khatre me hai. Lekin kisse ??? wake up people.

    so sad .Poor people mostly go to forest to pick up natural sources to fill their stomach.Many are depend on them,Mushrooms can be very poisonous and tasty too.One cant make out differences sometime.some are bit savoury ,but in effect they contain venom and dangerous.May their soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to their family.

    Majority of the utterly poor subsist on roots, mushrooms, berries, firewood/twigs etc picked from the forests; who is bothered about them unless they are useful for vote banks or other political mileage; this is the ground reality of a 5 trillion dollars economy!!!

    Mushrooms and other traditional drinks during AATI in Tulu Nadu should be given the education to identify the right one!!! to save the people who always land in wrong findings. How about those right wings of BJPeeee where they are now? only voting time or communal riots activate their existence
