Bangalore, May 17: Governor H R Bharadwaj has reportedly threatened the centre that he would quit as governor of Karnataka if Yeddyurappa government is not dismissed in accordance with his report.

Sources in the Congress high command have told one of the English dailies in Bangalore that the governor, who in a report to the Centre recommended dismissal of the BJP government, is hell-bent on ousting Yeddyurappa and company. Although neither the governor nor his officials at Raj Bhavan have made any public statement to this effect, it is said that the showdown between him and the BJP government has reached a point of no-return.

Bharadwaj, prior to his return to Bangalore from New Delhi on Sunday, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other key leaders of the Congress and briefed them on the political situation in Karnataka. Armed with the May 13 Supreme Court order that nullified the Speaker’s disqualification of 16 rebel MLAs (a move that had helped Yeddyurappa to win the confidence vote six months ago), Bharadwaj reportedly convinced the Congress high command that it was the right time to remove the Yeddyurappa government.

The governor’s report put the Congress high command in a tricky situation as any action against the Yeddyurappa government, which now enjoys a majority in the Vidhana Soudha, might open a Pandora’s box. A discussion on the report on Monday may 17 morning saw the UPA leaders divided on the next course of action. A majority of them insisted that Bharadwaj’s report be cast aside as dismissal of the Yeddyurappa government would prove suicidal for the party in Karnataka.

My dear hard core BJP supporters,

I am extremely sorry if your feelings are hurt. I have only placed my point of view which may not be in line with your party line or your thinking. My only advice to some of you is to be little careful with your vocabulary in using certain metaphors against people, because it only reflects the quality of the man writing it and not the other way round. For me it is difficult to return back such metaphors because my upbringing culture does not allow me to do so.

Now coming to the subject, if we consider the comments of BJP supporters then following may be the possibility:

Yedyurappa Government is doing a very good job and there is no corruption whatsoever.
Law and Order is very good in Karnataka and there was no attack on any place of worship so far.
There is no mining scam and Reddys are doing legal mining in Karnataka with Andhra license. YSR has given the license and requested Reddys to do legal mining in Karnataka with Andhra license.
There is no land scams by Katta and Yedyurappa for their sons.
There is no operation Kamala by BJP and the MLAs from other parties have come on their own.
BJP do not distribute money and liquor during elections. Opposition does this and asks them to vote for BJP.
Revolt by Reddys with some MLAs was engineered by Opposition parties and patch up also done by Opposition parties.
Revolt by Renukacharya and MLAs was planned by Opposition Parties and some MLAs including Renukacharya came back at the instance of Opposition parties.
Ananth Kumar, Jagadish Shettar and Ishwarappa are planning rebellion at the instance of opposition.
11 MLAs of BJP and 5 Independent MLAs revolted not because of the problem in BJP but because of opposition (Kumaraswami bribed them).
Action of speaker and chief minister (disqualification) was not motivated and Supreme Court’s decision is incorrect.
10 MLAs of BJP and 5 Independent MLAs returned back to BJP (without any bribe or luring them with any posts)

If above things are true then I agree with BJP supporters that the action of Governor is wrong. Otherwise I still take neutral stand on the issue and let the time decide.

Sathishji, The reason for the current development hthe slender margin. The simialr scenarios occured in Goa, Jarkhand, Maharasta in the past. I guess you have forgotten those. As per constituion speaker has the right to disqualify the MLAs. He used his power. Show me one speaker who has acted unbiased. These are all loopholes in the constituion. If it is unconstitutional then how HC and SC would have different opinion. Now dont tell HC judges were bribed by BSY. Same can apply to SC judges also. SO, your explanations are totally biased.

Go back to the situation when Rebel and independent MLAs were taken to Chennai, Goa by the most corrupt ex-cm HDK / Cong. How come HD Kumaraswamy had taken these MLAs with him - was it for some picnic tour? Admit that he has taken them with him because he wanted to offer them tons of money so that they will withdraw support and he will come back to power. Now, you got it Mr. Kunder?

It is CEC,LOKAYUKTA,Honorable Court and finally Suprime Court installed a speed breaker for Yeddy.FYI CONG/JDS are slient spectator for various reasons but HDK in his personal capacity made deep dent for Yeddy/BJP in a long run.If Yeddy survives mistakenly it is better for GUV to quit to the GUV post be away from bad company.

Karnataka is BANKRUPT and now Politics in Karnataka is also BANKRUPT.
No one is questioning the action of Speaker and CM on October 2010.
Current BJP government in Karnataka is illegal because of the fraud committed on the constitution.
What action is being taken against the Speaker and CM who are indicated by the Supreme Court?
Agreed Congress and JDS in Karnataka are spineless.
Governor was the only person who kept a check on this corrupt government and all its illegal activities.

Mr Yederappa is indulging in politics of convenience. If the circumstances in karnataka are not suitable for impposing the presidents rule what else will? Is it not a disgrace tp the mandate given by the people when the MLA s change their stance every now an then. How can the state progress be made when its ministers indulge in corruption? This goverment needs to be dismisssed immediatly and the congress looks weker to take this step. Its high time that the central goverment needs to restore the constutional order in Karnataka else it will always be known as the state with lots 'Nataka'

Mr. Kundar, You are absolutely wrong. When congress ruling I haven't seen such obstructions from BJP. BJP was sitting in the opposition and doing its duty. But here, something different is happening. I think, congress and JDS will quench their thirst only after coming to power. They have never allowed a govt. to run smoothly. What moral right do siddaramaya and kumaraswamyi to become a CM. In which angle are they sincere and clean. Only thing is, they very well know to play the game. I don't say whatever yeddi has done is absolutely right. But, why opposition is so much eager to come to power. What wonders they have done in so many years of ruling. We all know that, congressmen and jds also have done abundant wealth. There is nothing to hide in it. This time, governor has crossed his limit. If a politician sits in a governor's chair. This is what will happen.

See the irony. All comments by BJP supporters are against the action by Governor but nobody talks about why such a situation has arisen only in Karnataka and not in other BJP or opposition ruled states. For a minute let us consider that Congress is ruling the state and a NDA appointed Governor would have taken such a decision then how these BJP supporters would have reacted? In this case I do not want to take any side on Governor’s decision and only time will tell if the decision was right or wrong.

Let us analyse why this situation has come? Chief Minister and Speaker are responsible for the mess and they took hasty decision of disqualifying the MLAs to have the numbers in their favour during no confidence motion. Supreme Court has rightly passed on strictures to Speaker and Chief Minister but BJP instead of replacing the Chief Minister (which was the only demand of these disqualified MLAs) did one more blunder of buying these MLAs once again. What is the guarantee that there will be no revolt by these MLAs once again if the demands are not realised?

It may not to be proper to blame opposition or Governor for the happenings in Karnataka. BJP is totally responsible for the mess and their immaturity and incompetence is visible. BJP in Karnataka still have to learn a lot regarding governance which is totally absent at this moment.

Governor has to contest in the election. He himself has spoilt his image. How can a govt. run smoothly if Mr. Bharadwaj is here. He is an agent of congress there is no doubt about it.

We all know that, the person who enjoys majority in the assembly has to form a government. But some thing different is happening here.

Why congress and jds are so enthusiastic to rule the state. What progress they have done in so many years? Why no body is talking of central govt. corruption which is much more from state govt? As Mr. Ramesh Naik said, Mr. Bharadwaj is a burden for karnataka. I think he has to leave his chair. He has lost his brains. .

I would definitely support Yediyurappa. He is the head of the elected members, enjoying ample majority in the Assembly. I do not see a valid reason for the Governor to ask center for ousting a democratically elected government. Agreed, most of the BJP stalwarts are corrupt in the cabinet and charges against them are yet to be proved in the court of law, but requesting for dismantling the whole government is not a good idea, I think. Respected Governor, any action you would recommend to bring president rule in the state would ultimately benefit BJP in the election. So, it is a sort backfire.

Good news for kannadigas. Bharadvaj is already "Bhara" for us. Please go back as soon as possible. You have NOT allowed an elected Government to function. Better you join center cabinet. BSY government is elected to serve for 5 years and people of Karnataka will take a dicission whether to throw it or continue it.

But I strongly feel the supari is not from 10 Janpath but may be form Yeddi only to make him & BJP more stronger day by day. The Guv journey is travelling through this obvious route.

Having said that I guess its become common for congressmen to call it quits. Started with Poojari 2 weeks back, state congress yeaterday and Cow Gov today. Jai ho. So the whole equation means either Yeddi will go or all Congress patlan will go from Karnataka. But go where ?. Lets wait and watch.

All political parties have proved equally corrupt - there is no exception. However, Karnataka is saved from being subjected to Hindu Fundamentalism due to none other than this governor who did not support imposition of certain food habits on common man.

Believe it or not, I do not eat the product in reference but I would remain thankful to this gentleman for making available that little luxury to a poor family. I salute his guts to stand out despite being a Brahman.

Honest statesmen have hurdles in life.
The judgment of Supreme Court clearly mentioned that the disqualification of 16 MLA's by the Speaker itself was illegal as they have not given the chance to prove on the house.

The judgment also clearly mentioned that the Karnataka Govt. after the 16 MLA's has been disqualified is illegal government. Based on this Supreme court judgment, what the Honorable Governor R Bharadwaj has done is right decision requesting the Centre to dismiss the State Government.

All kinds of looters and rapists etc are what constitute the BJP in Karnataka. Get rid of this party which is surviving only by misdeeds and corruption.

Governor is frustated on the corruption and shamelessness of BJP govt. In his case he has to act exactly as per constituion, where as corrupt BJP Govt can act both immorally and unconstitutionally. This is proved in SC verdict. If Govt is dismissed, it will certainly make BJP leadership very happy, simply because they were helpless against Yeddy, now they have chance to deal with him. At the same time, they get an opportunity to corner congress on corruption. Need to wait and see.
