Mangaluru, Nov 25: The toll gate horata samithi under the aegis of its convenor Muneer Katipalla has opposed the hike in charges for commuters at Hejmady toll gate.
Speaking to daijiworld, Muneer Katipalla said, “The illegal Surathkal toll gate has not been scrapped but merged to Hejmady toll gate. The order copy of the revised toll charges at Hejmady was issued by NHAI which shows a massive increase. They have simply added the charges of Surathkal toll gate to the Hejamady one.
“The revised toll fee is applicable from December 1 and we strongly oppose it. A week more is left for the revised toll fee to be applicable. We are eagerly waiting for the local and Udupi MP and MLA for their reaction, as they should not allow the revised toll fee to be implemented.
“We will see the development in the next one week. If the revised toll gate charges are applied from December 1, our protest will be intensified.
“The proposal of revised toll charges was sent to the government a month ago. When the documentation process was underway, the local MLA and MP should have opposed the same,” he said.
The indefinite strike by the toll gate horata samithi is inching towards completing a month now.
