Mangalore, May 17: In contrast to the protest held in the afternoon by district BJP committee which demanded for governor Bhardwaj’s ouster, the district Congress organized a rasta roko at the KPT Junction, Kadri here at 4 pm demanding the dissolution of the BJP government in the state.
Addressing the protestors district Congress president Ramanath Rai said that the BJP government has been looting the state in thousands of crores. He urged that a CBI enquiry be ordered on all state cabinet ministers. He stated thar if done so, many will be behind the bars very soon.
MLA U T Khader said that BJP had reached its peak in corruption and that it has no value for common people’s aspiration to lead a decent life.
KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Moideen Bava, T K Sudhir, corporator Appi, among others were present.
Later the protestors including Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Ivan D’Souza were arrested by the Kadri police and cases were registered against them for causing inconvenience to the public. However, they were soon released.
An effigy of CM Yeddyurappa was burnt on the National Highway. Police said they had earlier requested the protesters not to burn effigies on the highway as the asphaltization melts there and creates problem, but the protesters paid scant respect to the request.
Crackers were burst. When asked about the reason for bursting crackers during protest, the leaders were not able to answer. When a woman in a vehicle which was heading towards hospital for emergency treatment asked the police to make way, the police made immediate arrangements and allowed the vehicle to pass.

Mangalore, May 17: The BJP leaders and activists protested in front of the deputy commissioner's office on Tuesday May 17 accusing governor H R Bhardwaj of having least value for democracy and the Constitution. They demanded his ouster from the state.
The leaders including district BJP president Padmanabha Kottari, Shreekar Prabhu, Franklin Monteiro, B Nagaraj Shetty, Geetha Nayak, Jayaram Shetty and Monappa Bhandary among others were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Padmanabh Kottari said that governor Bhardwaj has not been showing any respect to the Constitution and to the government of people’s choice. It is apparent that governor is not happy with the government that abides law and order in the society. It looks that governor though educated lacks judicial knowledge, he asserted and urged the governor not to become a reason for people's annoyance.
In case the central government upholds the report sent by Bhardwaj, who has recommended President’s rule in the state, the BJP will hold severe protest in all taluk centres and at gram panchayat level, he added.
Monappa Bhandary assered that legal action against rebel MLAs earlier was the right move considering party policy as well as an action to boost party morale.
The protestors displayed banners demanding Bhardwaj's ouster from Governor's position.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to the President through the deputy commissioner.

Udupi, May 17: The activists of district BJP staged a protest in front of Clock Tower here on Tuesday May 17 evening, urging President Pratibha Patil to recall governor H R Bhardwaj over the latest political developments in the state.
Addressing the protesters, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said mockingly that it would be justified if Bhardwaj were to be appointed as president of KPCC. He announced that aggravated protests will be held till the President calls back Bhardwaj.
Zilla panchayat president Katpady Shanker Poojary, vice-president Jyothi Shetty, taluk panchayat president Devdas Hebbar, BJP local leaders K Suresh Nayak, H Ratnakar Shetty, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, B N Shanker Poojary, Sheela Shetty and Shyamala Kunder among others were present.
