Mangaluru: Parked car catches fire due to short circuit

Mangaluru, Nov 26: A fire accidently erupted in a parked car at Balmatta near Juice Junction here on Saturday November 26.

It is allegedly said that the incident was reported due to a short circuit in the air-condition unit of the vehicle. The family had parked their car to have snacks.

Locals in the area doused the fire. The front portion of the car was completely gutted in the mishap.

    This place is illegal parking. When Mr. Ponnuraj was DC of Mangalore he bulldozed illegal tiles laid by shop fellow several times and made it public parking/bus waiting place. But, regular kickbacks given made local municipality, traffic police, politicians to remain mute & deaf of this illegal occupancy. Not only this even rain water drain passing through that building via bridge road was fully swallowed by wine shop and other food outlets as personal parking. Municipality is silent on that. Bridge road users always suffer in that area due to swallowed footpaths & illegal parking. High time for Traffic Police to install CCTV & fine all vehicles illegally parked and control all illegal activities happening on bridge road.
