Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa Gets One More Lifeline ?

Yeddyurappa Gets One More Lifeline ?

by Narayana Swamy, Mysore

Bangalore, May 18: Highly reliable sources have informed that the central government has decided to grant one more lifeline to the state government, and is not in a mood to impose President's rule in the state. After receiving reliable information from central sources Yeddyurappa and all the MLAs are set to return to Bangalore on Wednesday, May 18, flashing smiles and the trademark victory signs.

Yeddyurappa might have to prove his majority in the assembly in the coming days, but that would be a cakewalk for him as now he is stronger than ever with the support from 122 MLAs, including himself and speaker Bopaiah.

This could be a big setback for the governor of Karnataka as this is the second time the centre is rejecting Bhardwaj's recommendation.

Currently, the state file is with finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, whose opinion on the matter and subsequent recommendations will be accepted by PM Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

It is also reliably learnt that the state governor has already received a clear message from the centre that his recommendations cannot be accepted at the moment due to various reasons inlcluding legal issues. That is the reason why the governor released a media communique explaining why he had recommended the suspension of the assembly.

The three-day high profile drama is expected to come to an end by Wednesday evening and for the time being Yeddyurappa is expected to win another major battle of his political life and emerge as the undisputed leader in the BJP camp of Karnataka, which is the first BJP government in south India.

Wednesday was an interesting day in the politics of Karnataka as opposition leader Parameshwara followed Yeddyurappa's example and prayed for Divine help to bring down the BJP government, just as the CM prayed in a temple in New Delhi to ask God to provide him more strength to fight the current political battle.

On Thursday May 19, JD(S) supremo and former PM Deve Gowda who is going to celebrate his birthday will also be seeking God's help to bring down the BJP government.

It will be interesting to see whose prayer God will listen to!

Is God biased? Is it fair to listen the prayers of some? (Yediyurappa). God is the one who suppose to treats everyone equally. He has no favourites. He doesn’t take sides like congress appointed governors.

The centre's decision is purely political, out of fear and not towards upholding the constitution.

No matter Yediyurappa's government goes or remains but there must be somebody in this country, may be president, to uphold the constitution.

Even JDS or Congress will give the same catastrophic governemnt in future. They have never shown any maturity to play their power as a qualified opposition party.

Finally Kannadiga's are enjoying a drama that never ends.

The whole administration has gone to the dogs.

Better be awake before the whole state goes to dogs.

Government claims out of 4 Lakhs crore assured to be invested in Karnataka 2 Lakh crore has come in. Who will take these numbers? No such investment has taken place other than small timers.

Well said Mr. R Shetty. Yes we are watching, listening and reading. If rebelled MLAs had stood by their stand of not supporting Yeddy even after SC verdict, the Guv would have asked Yeddy to prove majority once again knowing that he will not be able to. Now since these MLAs changed their mind and extended full support to Yeddy, Guv straight away recommended for dismissal without giving Yeddy an opportunity constitutionally. Biase is quite evident.
I can also see the frustration among people when the party leaders visit temples!!!!! why?

If Congress and JDS were to fight elections together Karnataka would never see such medieval days.
Center had no alternative but to reject the Governor’s recommendation because of these 2 IDIOTIC parties.

      Dear friends,

First of all, it is common sense to know that BJP MLA's were sacked by BJP in October last year (Yeddy) for breaking the party discipline. Whole world know how those MLA's behaved in assembly and later in the resorts sponsored by JDS (HDK) & Congress (?). Do you honestly believe they have not broken their party's discipline? If they break party discipline don’t you think they deserve to be sacked and to understand such simple thing do we need to go to the court?

Besides if you read the SC judgment (as reported on news paper), SC criticized the procedural wrongs in handling the situation by Yeddy & Speaker. Every manmade things (procedure in this case) has exceptions and not necessarily foolproof. Now do you think the way HDK & Congress handled (as shown on TV) is legally/ethically correct?

If Yeddy followed the procedure to take action on anti party activities of those MLA’s, he needs few days to sack them. Do you honestly believe current governor would have given such time to Yeddy? Does our constitution allow for such liberty to the CM? As everyone knows current Governor would not have wasted time as soon as he see a chance is available (in the way of loop hole in the system)in bringing down the government as per JDS/Congress evil plan. If you argue that BJP lost majority in October 2010, you should also accept that BJP lost majority at that time because of JDS/Congress hatched unethical/illegal practices or evil design.

My dear friends, Karnataka people are clever and watching, therefore in recent by election BJP won all the 3 seats.

I don't understand the whole fuss made out by people commenting against the government.

Here are simple things people should try to understand before venting their anger on forums like these

      a) Why can't simply congress government at the center accept the governors report and impose president's rule ? This is because they don't have the courage to do so. Despite all the tamasha about corruption nepotism etc, more people in Karnataka like BJP compared to number of people who hate BJP. The majority wins - as simple as that. I can understand that a few people digest this fact and they vent out this in forums like this. This is real democracy my friends.

      b) There is too much hatred towards BJP among a few for whatever reason. Must realize that there is equal hatred for congress well among supporters of BJP for very similar reasons. There is no point in making a logical argument to show one upmanship because most reasons are more ideological than anything else. Let us accept this fact and move on to better citizens of this country. Until then, we will see everything with our own colored glass and say what we see is the ultimate truth. That is purely delusional.

If Karnataka BJP has iota of shame left within themself ,they must resign immediately irrespective of central decison.
Yeddy has lost majority when he sacked 16 MLAS previous night of voting. He has squeezed the neck of these 16 mlas 7 months back. This is clear from sureme court ruling. Current majority Of Yeddy is irrevalent now and is not a base for him to continue(This is like a batsman already cleaned bowled coming again to bat by disguising in another mans dress) .If Central government rejects governor recommentation then also this also should not be a base or permission for Yeddy to continue. Unfortunately Central government itself is surrounded by numerous headches and problems and they do not want another headache that may arise by sacking yeddy.

Sacking Yeddy will create a sure opportunity for BJP to fight against central and thus sure trouble to central.Bad reputation of Governor may be also another reason central government wants to reject recommendation of governor and leave Yeddy alone. LeaVING yEDDY ALONE will also on other side indicate centrals incapacity to sack corrupt state BJP government and will reflect poorly on their courage and gurds.Shame on both Yeddy and shame on central government if they let yeddy off alone .
