Udupi, Dec 3: A professional guide has undertaken a journey to tread 40,000-km on foot in order to create awareness to form a good society and environment for children.
Yogen Shah of Gujarat is the teacher who has made this vow. He has already completed 14,000 km of his journey and has stepped into Dakshina Kannada district from Udupi.
Yogen suffered from a spine wear out condition when he was studying at Oxford in 2002. In 2007, he returned to India and got his condition cured through yoga, physical labour and walking. He saw that human beings are becoming closer to nature during Covid lockdown.
In order to create a bright future for the children of India, Yogen began his foot march on June 15, 2020 from Vadodara. He reached Delhi through Chandigarh. Later, he moved towards the south and entered Karnataka from Goa.
Speaking to the media, Yogen said, “Work of instilling self confidence in children needs to be done. In present times, leading a simple life, along with nature and environment is very much needed. In the wake of this, I am trying to create awareness among rural folk, school and college students. I will walk till Kanyakumari and then visit Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, USA and many other countries.”
