Udupi: Truck overturns on cars, occupants have miraculous escape

Udupi, Dec 5: A truck that was carrying paddy sacks overturned on two tourist cars, after the driver lost the control at Kelaparkala near here.

One car was completely damaged. All the paddy sacks were strewn all over the road causing difficulty for commuters. It is learnt that the occupants of the car escaped from danger.

Vehicle drivers who arrive from other districts and states get confused while driving from Udupi to Parkala. In the area where new road work is in progress, traffic is diverted from the past 15 days. Locals filed complaint at Manipal police station of dust particles due to vehicle moving on paved road.

There are no traffic sign boards or protective barriers. As there is not arrangement of street lights, vehicle drivers get confused whether they should take the old or new road.

Earlier too, many accidents have taken place at this spot. Allowing of vehicles to move as the new road work is in progress has caused all the issues. Two roads that connect to Kelaparkala are also completely damaged.

    @real Kujuma it is useless talking about politicians. Weather congress or BJP leaders are there with their oersonal agenda abd mindset. We need a strong and critical thinking person like Indira Gandhi

    Trucks with goods are always hazardous to the vehicles on the road as well as for pedistrians. For two reasons. One-they are overloaded and there is no check on them by traffic police because they are after bikes and cars. Two- they are not careful while on the road, they are not only faast but also on fast lane overtaking.

    only in third world countries Eva...I lived in dubai for 15 years and have seen that none of the goods vehicle go without covering the top..even the tippers carrying mud, sand..you wont find a single spillage on road as there are heavy fines and even seizure of vehicles and jail sentence to contractor....in our country sab chalta hai...now some andh bhakts will ask me to go to dubai...i would definitely go but they dont offer permanent resident visa...

    @real kujuma you are absolutely right. Gulf countries rules are followed. If not they help who are in need of help. In western countries they give poijts whenver drivers do mistakes and ultimately cancel license. When are we going to be on world map?

    Parkal roads look like parkatt kuju bhaiyya.....Horrible. I wonder, why there's no good maintenance of roads by the municipality? Looks like Roads are not swept since years....narrow roads.....bus stands are untidy.....ditches .....dirty water flows.....shops are on the road....total unhygienic.....No doubt, there was a flood during rainy season....Unplanned totally.....I had an opportunity to visit Manipal....Roads are fully dusty ups and downs...My kudla is thousands time better and clean. My gratitude and thanks to our MLA Shri Vedavyas ksmath ji and his personnel. Whatever is brought to his notice, he will swing into action...
