Mangalore, May 20:
Earlier this week, on Tuesday May 17, daijiworld had carried a special report about the plight of over 1,300 differently-abled people who had been denied their pensions since December due to a 'techincal problem' in the system.

As a result, the district federation for persons with disability has decided to launch a massive protest in the city in case the due pensions are not paid by the first week of June as promised by the authorities.

Gopal Achar, one of the many victims of a 'crippled' system

Speaking daijiworld.com on Friday May 20, president of the federation Dinesh Shetty said that the condition of physically challenged people the state has worsened. Earlier, KSRTC bus passes were given free of cost, but now they are being charged. No one has come forward to help them though they have not received their monthly pensions for six months, he said, and added, "If the due amount is not paid by June, we will hold a massive protest with a procession from Nehru Maidan in which more than 2,000 will participate."

Meanwhile, when daijiworld contacted Puttaswamy, DK district physically challenged welfare committee officer, he said that distribution of monthly pensions belonging to physically challenged comes under the purview of the tahshildar and the treasurer officer. Due to a technical snag there has been temporary stoppage in payment for the last 6 months. He assured that the amount will be paid in the first week of June and the problem will be solved.

One only hopes that at least in this case, the deserving get their due without having to fight for it.

According to WHO, they are called as differently abled people not physically challenged. The Union Government has signed the agreement with the UN for the Disability Act 1998.
It always happens in India, that right jobs are not given to the right people. What Tahalsidar or politicians knows about the disability act. There are rehabilitation expert in India to do this job. It is the responsibility of the ministry of Human justice and Empowerment to share this job to the concerned service providers like, paramedics, social workers and NGO.

They perform better than these beurocrates or babus. It is very sad to note that Differently abled persons are harassed by the administration in Mangalore, where experts or institutions in the field of disability are exists in large number at Mangalore.

Arun CK Managalore, pls don't distort the issue and debate it on the merit of the issue. For social benefit of differently-abled 's you are talking about Center's Kick Back and bla bla which is uncalled for and the subject belongs to State.FYI this phenomenon is not limited to regional instead the whole Karnataka facing this problem as per the TV report.Tell me is it TECHNICAL SNAG or RESOURCES CONSTRAINT?OR ARTIFICIAL SNAG?

Dear Jacob Nelson, Did I give any justification that Gopal Achar does not deserve his dues ? just that this guy down talks bullshit, of course you are correct I would not be ready to hear at the end of the month that i wont have salary for my work, So does people like Gopal achar deserve all the Govt benifits irrespective of weather its comning from the center or state. Infact they deserves more or sort of compensation for thier 6 or more months odreal now.
But to solve this now first of all to solve this issues do we have a stable Govt ? Center is busy collecting kikbacks and trying to tighten their pants which keeps falling down every second day, the people who are managing the chairs of these departments in state level are busy doing resort politics to save their ship, the opposition which is there in house to remind the ruling party or fight for the causes of the people & highlight the plights of different sections like people with special needs , farmers, traders & unpaid contractors are busy doing DOMBARAATA politics in road and just making noise pollution, What can you expect from these babu's who are sitting under them ?

Do we have our MLA or he is missing? So far he never gave any statement or never bothered to look how the people are and what is their need? These people need some sort of education and must learn why they are in politics and what they have to do? Stupid and useless guys………just taking our tax money as salary and enjoying the life.

Dear brothers, let us forget party lines, religion and cast at least in this matter. No matter whatever the "technical problem" the mistake is a grave one and is unpardonable under any circumstances. If we do not rectify this blunder by war footing we are unfit to call ourselves human beings. Please give full support to their just protest. This is the least we can do because the facilities required to be given to these handicapped ( naming them physically challenged is the only change) by tax payers money is almost negligible in all respects for these poor citizens of our country.
