Mangaluru, Dec 7: “As many as 62,829 claims and applications have been received as part of the revision on electoral rolls from November 9 to December 7 in the district,” said deputy commissioner (DC) Ravikumar M R.
The DC was speaking at a press meet here on Thursday December 8. He said, “The final voters' list will be released on January 5, 2023. A total of 16,065 applications have been sent for scrutiny. As many as 1,449 applications have been rejected and 8,173 applications have been approved.
“The complete revision of voters’ list was held from August 4 to October 24. The revised draft of voters’ list was published on November 9. The rights and applications were received from November 9 to December 8. The special registration campaign was held on November 12 and 20 and December 3 and 4. The rights and applications will be cleared by December 26.The final voter list will be out on January 5.
“There are 17,08,955 voters in the draft electoral rolls for the year 2023. The final voters’ list for the year 2022 had 17,53,328 voters. The final list of polling booths in the year 2022 was 1,861. In the draft electoral rolls for the year 2023, the polling booths are 1,860.
“After the special summary revision of electoral rolls in 2022, as many as 29,410 names have been added to the electoral rolls. As many as 73,783 names have been deleted. A total of 21,537 names have been deleted due to deaths,” he said.
He also urged the political parties of different parties to appoint booth level agents to confirm registration of voters in the electoral rolls. “In this regard, all department welfare associations have been asked to cooperate when booth level agents arrive for door-to-door for clarification of voters' list,” he said.
