Sullia: Scientists from Israel to be consulted over arecanut diseases - Muniratna

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Dec 12: Horticulture minister Muniratna said, “I have viewed arecanut farms infested with leaf dot and yellow leaf disease. Farmers have suffered huge losses because of this. Research needs to be done as to why this disease is affecting the arecanut crop. Attempts will be made to find solution with the scientists of Israel, when I visit there next month.”

The minister visited arecanut farms at Markanja of the taluk on Sunday December 11 and spoke to the media. He also said that Rs four crore is released to spray pesticide and a proposal is sent to the chief minister to release further Rs 15 crore.

“It is known that the leaf that are affected with dots should be cut and pesticide should be sprayed in order to save the crop. But this needs to be done by the neighbouring farm owners also. The government is giving subsidy to buy Doti for this purpose. Discussion has been held to provide compensation to farmers who have suffered losses,” said Muniratna.

Attempts will be made to develop breed of arecanut which will not be affected by disease, he informed.

Fisheries minister S Angara, Markanja gram panchayat president Pavithra Gundi and BJP Mandala committee president Harish Kanjipili were present.

Why Israel scientists? ..What happened to the highly educated scientists and PHD holders who are Indians ? ..Is our knowledge only to get a job and good marks while we study ? This is the basic difference between studying with passion to contribute to society and studying for a Job.

Whatever govt is doing good, we show disagreement towards it instead of supporting and patting the back...??!! How the govt will function towards the betterment of its citizen in such negativity? Lets all be constructive unitedly and not destructive in every governmental plans.....Only very few good hearted people given positive comments and expressed their views when daiji published news twice about 2 more railway tracks....which are under construction at Mangaluru central. Few of them given suggestions too how to uplift its grade and make it more convenient to the passengers. Such positive comments are always welcomed and appreciated. Where were my other commentator friends ??

Indeed, this is another opportunity to make gotala. Certainly, our team will utilize the middle man to take their share, regardless of result. Our so called public servents do not leave any room where they can squeeze public money. They are after love jihad, anti conversion law, and so on... But they deliberately forget to make a law for stopping politicians in other words public elected representatives from jumping one party another after winning.

Nodoubt scientists from Isarel is excellent in par while comparing with others. Eventhough it's a small country with less population..contribution to the society in each and every field is in the number one position. We should proud Indua developed a good relationship with Isarel as problem of both countries are one and the same..terrorism. Each and everybody wants to learn from them the much.
