Kasargod, Dec 14: The district additional sessions court here sentenced the first accused in the murder case of Zubaida (60), a resident of Uduma Ayampara to life imprisonment on Wednesday December 14.
The accused convicted is identified as Abdul Khader (32) from Vidyanagar Kunjaru Kotekani. Cases of murder, illegal entry to house and robbery were slapped on him and a fine of Rs one lac was also imposed on the accused.
While another accused Arshad (28) from Manya was acquitted, one more accused Abdul Azeez (36) from Sullia Ajjavara is absconding.

Abdul Azeez who was under judicial custody had fled on September 14, 2018 from Sullia KSRTC bus stand premises while being escorted after being produced in the court. He is still at large.
The murder has taken place on January 17, 2018. The accused who had arrived in the guise of looking for land had visited the house of Zubaida and asked for water to drink. As Zubaida went inside the house to bring water, the accused followed and killed her. They had decamped and fled with about 27 grams of gold from the house. As Zubaida was staying alone, the incident came to light only the next day. The stolen gold that was sold to the jewellery shop at Kasargod by the accused was recovered by the police.
Abdul Khader, the prime accused in the case, was working in a house near the house of Zubaida for some time and was observing her movements. It was revealed after investigation that the accused had killed Zubaida thinking that she must be having a large quantity of gold.
