Mangaluru, Dec 15: Rajesh Pavithran (42) of Karnataka state Hindu Mahasabha was arrested by Surathkal police on the accusation of extorting gold and cash from a businessman threatening to make his private information public.
Complainant Suresh, a resident of Kavoor in the city had decided to do business with Rajesh Pavithran as a partner. However, he came to know about the illegal dealings of Rajesh and backed off from the partnership.
Accused Pavithran, who got enraged by the sudden withdrawal of partnership by Suresh, confiscated his laptop and threatened him to pay more money as extortion or else he will make the private information in the laptop of the complainant. In addition, Pavithran also said that he will break the legs and hands of the complainant.
Surathkal police arrested Pavithran based on the complaint filed by Suresh and produced him to court. The police have also registered case against Dr Sanija on the accusation of cooperating with Rajesh Pavithran in the act.
