Udupi: 65-year-old fisherman drowns in sea, dies after bee attack

Udupi, Dec 16: A swarm of bees attacked a fisherman who was standing near the sea spreading his net to catch fish. He fell into the sea and died.

Vasudeva Salian (65), resident of Nadipatna, is the unfortunate victim of this bee attack. Vasudeva ran towards the sea to get away from the attack of swarm of bees. However, before he could run to safety, the bees had bitten his face at several places as per the police report.

Salian was very friendly mannered person mingling with people of all community. He was the member of Kadipatna Kairampani fund since many years and used to do fishing for a living.

A case is registered in Padubidri police station.

In addition to attack on Vasudeva, the bees attacked several other people also. Some have got admitted to hospital in Udupi while others got medical treatment at a local hospital. No one know from where the group of bees arrived.

    His bad luck.sad he couldnt reach the water when bees attacked.Probably bees were chased by someone or disturbed ?There are wild bees they are agressive.Only if he could cover his face?May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.May be he was drunk ,so bees got attracted to the smell?
