Udupi, Dec 18: A huge number of tourists are thronging the temple city of coastal region. School students are on a visit to the Krishna Math and Malpe beach. Hundreds of buses are parked near the Math and the Malpe beach. Thousands of students are standing in queues to get into the Math right from early hours in the morning.
After visiting the Math, tourists move towards Malpe beach and have fun. Due to the weekend, the number of devotees and tourists has increased by ten times.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, schools did not arrange tours for its students during the last two years. However, this year school buses are seen everywhere in the city.
On the other hand, devotees of Lord Aiyappa Swamy are visiting temples. They mainly visit Krishna Math, Kollur and Kumbashi temples. There is a tradition of devotees visiting all temples before proceeding to Sabarimala. Some even visit temples on their from Sabarimala as well.
As the number of tourists is huge, district administration is finding it difficult to provide adequate accommodation. In addition, their security is also a concern. Incidents of thefts are also on the rise as tourists are easy targets for the thieves. Police department has increased security around tourist places.
