The inauguration was also held in a grand manner. All local administration officers and MLA Raghupati Bhat took part in the inauguration and enjoyed the floating bridge. MLA Raghupati Bhat had fallen off after losing his balance on the bridge. However, the bridge got washed away into the sea within the next two days due to Asani cyclone. People were shocked to see the state of the bridge after the cyclone. It hit the national headlines as well.
Now the new floating bridge - 150 feet in length - is ready with new safety features. Now three entrepreneurs have got the floating bridge built for Rs 80 lac by Marine company of Mumbai. The blocks of the new floating bridge withstood the Mandaus cyclone also and did not get damaged or dismantled. This bridge is stronger due to its much stronger joints. Except Kerala, Malpe is the only beach that has floating bridge now.
