Kundapur: Mining, Geology officials raid illegal sand den, confiscate two tippers

Kundapur, Dec 20: Mining and geology department scientist Sandhya conducted raids at illegal sand den at Shankernarayana on Dec 20 and took into custody two tipper lorries that were loaded with sand.
The raid was conducted under guidance from senior geologist of the department Sandeep G U. The illegal sand miners fled when the raid was in progress.

It was found during investigations that some private parties have given way through their patta land for illegal transport of sand. The department officials said that suitable action will be taken against those landowners and boats used for the mining will be confiscated.

The officials have registered a case and handed over the custody of two tippers and 20 ton sand in it to Shankernarayana police station for further action.
