Bantwal, Dec 23: Town police arrested two people on Thursday on the road that leads to Goodinabali adjacent to B C Road railway station on the accusation of transporting contraband MDMA tablets that induce sleep.
The arrested are Irshad (25), a resident of Barekadu of Bikasta village and Deekshith alias Appoos (19), from Manjeshwar in Kasargod taluk.
Bantwal city station inspector Avinash was patrolling the area on Thursday December 22 with his personnel when the auto rickshaw driven by the accused arrived from Narayanaguru circle. They noticed suspicious behaviour of the driver and interrogated him. They came to know that he was under the influence of MDMA narcotic drug.
Irshad had MDMA tablet weighing four grams and Deekshith had five grams of the same tablet. The combined value of these tablets is Rs 20,000. Both were arrested, the auto rickshaw was seized and a case was registered.
