Bantwal: Accused held for shop break-in, stealing mobile phone handsets, cash

Bantwal, Dec 24: Town police here arrested an accused in connection with a theft reported.

The arrested accused is identified as Mohammed Irfan, a resident of Golithottu village near the Jamma Masjid of Kadaba taluk.

On August 7, the accused had indulged in breaking into a shop and stolen two mobile phone handsets valued at Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 in cash from a wholesale shop belonging to Rajaram at Gurukrupa Complex building in B Mooda village of Bantwal taluk. The shop owner had filed a complaint with the Bantwal police in this connection.

After conducting an investigation, the police arrested Mohammed Irfan and recovered the stolen articles from him.

But, the accused had on December 6 had broken into a house in Golithottu village under the Uppinangady police limits and stolen cash. In November 2021, he had stolen Rs 3,000 from an office belonging to lawyer Sudarshan, police investigation revealed.

The operation was conducted by Bantwal police under the leadership of police inspector Vivekananda by PSIs Avinash, Kalaimaar and staff members Rajesh, Irshad, Ganesh and Praveen.
