Mangaluru, Dec 25: A huge gathering staged a protest keeping the dead body of slain Jaleel in a masjid demanding justice to his bereaved family here on Sunday, December 25,
The protestors also demanded compensation for Jaleel's family and also arrest in this murder and previous such cases in Surathkal.
Police commissioner N Shashikumar was trying to convince the public when reports last came in. A massive gathering of people was witnessed protesting at the masjid.
Police team of eight formed to nab culprits
Later, speaking to media, the police commissioner said, "A team of eight officers has been formed to nab the culprits and we will soon arrest the real culprit. Public should heed to any kind of rumours. We are probing the murder in all angles. The public has staged a protest with the mortal remains of Jaleel seeking justice and given a 24-hour deadline to nab the culprit. The outraged public was later convinced and the mortal remains were taken to Masjid for final rites. Section 144 has been imposed in four police station limits. There is a relaxation from section 144 for pre-planned events."
