Belagavi, Dec 29: Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah has condemned the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government for curtailing the Belagavi Legislature Session merely because of the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for attending ruling BJP’s political programmes in Mandya, Mysuru and Bengaluru rural districts.
“The curtailment of the session to suit the political convenience of the ruling BJP is anti-people and undemocratic. The session should have been continued for another week to discuss several burning issues of the State and the problems of the people,’’ Siddaramaiah said in a tweet.
The former Chief Minister said the curtailment of the session to enable the ruling party leaders to attend Amit Shah’s political meetings shows the arrogance and utter disregard of the State Government for the problems of the people, he said.
The Congress leader pointed out that the reintroduction of the old pension scheme, recruitments to fill up the vacancies in the government departments, the death of the pregnant woman in Tumkur due to non-availability of the medical treatment and the death of the infant as well as several other issues had to be discussed. But the ruling BJP is least bothered about the problems of the people, he said.
