Mangaluru, Dec 30: Deputy commissioner (DC) Ravikumar M R has taken out an order prohibiting transportation of cattle within the district and to outstation districts in addition to banning arrival of cattle from other districts into Dakshina Kannada in the wake of fast spreading lumpy skin disease in cattle.

Lumpy skin disease is found in 289 villages of the district. So far, 3414 cattle are affected by the dreaded disease and 64 cattle have lost life. As there is every possibility of the disease getting spread to other areas by transportation, the same is prohibited.
