Sullia, Jan 1: A major disaster was averted in the wee hours of Saturday, due to the presence of mind of a loco pilot at Subramanya Road railway station as gas started leaking from the goods train that was stationed at the station.

Fire service engines from Sullia, Beltangady, Mangaluru, Puttur, with the cooperation of Railway department personnel, contained the gas leakage.

The Goods train that was moving from Mangaluru to Maharashtra carrying containers of gas, had stopped at Subramanya Road at around 2.30 am on Saturday for crossing. As the loco pilot got down to inspect, he saw gas leaking from the fourth tank out of the 43 goods panels. He immediately brought the matter to the notice of the officials.

After the Puttur fire service station received a call from Subramanya Road railway station, they rushed to Nettana and began the operation. To prevent major disaster, the fire service engines were called from Sullia, Beltangady and Mangaluru also.

Accidents on industrial goods locomotive happen in most advanced countries, may be a human error or non human error. perhaps you should better leave this country and migrate towards country of your choice instead of whining & complaining all day like a 6 yr old kid in kindergarten
