Puttur, Jan 1: The Uppinangady police arrested a man accused of taking his 14-year-old neighbour girl, who had gone to school for an annual day programme, on the pretext of dropping her home and sexually assaulting her in a nearby hill at Puccheri of Nelyadi.
On December 29, the victim girl had gone for the school programme with her parents, grandfather and sister. After a while, the parents, grandfather and sister left from school and the victim girl said that she will go home after watching the complete programme.
After the school day was over, Chethan, neighbour of the victim girl, made her believe that he would drop her home, made her sit on his bike and took her to a nearby hill and sexually assaulted her. In addition, he left the girl in a nearby forest at midnight. The girl walked back to the hill and stayed there till morning. Parents of the girl went in search of her and found her on the hill. On inquiry, the girl narrated the ordeal.
The girl is admitted to hospital. A case under POCSO is registered by Uppinangady police. They have taken Chethan into custody and further investigation is on.
