M'lore: Fate's Cruel Blow - 25-yr-old Libya-returned Roydon Dies in Accident

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SB)

Mangalore, May 28: Roydon D'Souza (25), who had just recently returned to India following Libyan crisis has now lost his life in an ill-fated accident occurred on Thursday May 26 night.

Roydon,a junior technician at Suzlon, Padubidri and resident near Govinda Dasa College at Suratkal here died at Suratkal junction while returning after participating in a function at Haleyangady. The accident occurred at the junction after his bike hit a stone kept to guard another vehicle under repair, on impact of which he was thrown on road with his head banging on to the divider. However, he died on the way to the hospital.

It is unfortunate that the stones were not removed even after the vehicle was moved away from the road after due repair, which resulted in the catastrophe.

Libya Returned

Roydon D'Souza was working as a general fitter at Libya and had returned two-and-a-half months following Libyan crisis. He had joined the job at Suzlon just a few days ago.

Roydon, a bachelor, is survived by his father, mother, sister and brother.

Irresponsible by everyone of us, even if we see any unecessary vehicle standing in middle of the road or we see any stones on road we are less bothered to remove it or question it. we just see it blindly are move from there.

May your soul rest in eternal peace Roydon!

The incidence of fatal accidents is on the rise in and around Mangalore. Motorists especially should take extra precaution while driving like wearing ISI certified helmets, driving slowly, and avoiding dangerous stretches of roads.

The authorities shall be taken to task for failing to remove the stone from road which resulted in loss of innocent life.Heavy damages should be claimed to avoid repeat of such negligent behaviour on part of govt.authorities.

Very sad to hear this.God bless his soul. The Surathkal administration and the police has to be blamed for these incidents. Last year July, Three youngsters from Surathkal were lost their lives at the same spot in the night due to the same reason. It is surprise to see that the nearby Surathkal Police station has not taken any action to prevent these incidents. The administration should be held responsible for loss of these precious human lives.

Careless people do not understand the effect of the dangerous objects kept on public road.Let us all remember that we too are the cause of such accidents because we had seen it but failed to shift it aside or atleast report immedietly to the concerned authorities. This report should have vide publicity.Let the departed soul rest in peace.

It is a humble request to NRI, Gulf return or Gulf working come to home town for holiday, please do not ride on 2 wheelers as the system in the Gulf or abroad is much much different than here in India. Unfortunately in India there is no proper implementation of road safety and driving on 2 wheelers is high risk to life for people working in abroad. Until one used to local culture of driving, it will be difficult for those who work abroad to drive in local town... Even Bombay it is easier to drive.

Indeed a very cruel blow. May our loving Saviour bless this bereaved family to bear the loss. May our Saviour give them the strength to overcome this great moment of loss and agony.
It is often seen in most places in India that people do things to their convenience and later forget to clear the mess as if it's not their responsibility. Digging earth, laying stones, blockades, etc. for funtions, drainage work and so on, but fail to complete the work once their problems are resolved. Pot holes glaring at innocent riders, cyclists and other vehicles as well. So many innocent lives have been claimed due to the negligence of ignorant people who think they own the roads. Who is going to replace the loss of this family. Young life lost to some careless irresponsible person's ignorance. A loss can be felt in the hearts of only those that have lost their dear ones. Only can heal that pain and strengthen them...

Here is another innocent life lost due to the inefficiency of the Traffic Police.

Every vehicle should have a RED triangle or a RED cone in the trunk so that if the vehicle is disabled it is placed at a suitable distance behind to alert other drivers NOT STONES. This is a very unsafe practice that I see on Indian roads.

Please wake up and ENFORCE this law or enact one to have a RED triangle or a RED cone in every vehicle.

Fines should be imposed on all who put stones on the roads for a disabled vehicle.

Father God, Please give this family comfort and peace. You teach us that where there is suffering your grace abounds and when death takes a child this situation is so painful. Let this tragedy bring this family closer together as they journey through their grief. I plead the blood of Jesus over this situation. Please prayer warriors, cover this family in prayer. Please put people in their lives who can talk faith and love to them.
