Mangaluru: Police atrocity at Tannirbhavi – Cop suspended

Mangaluru, Jan 3: The police department suspended a personnel over alleged atrocity at Tannirbhavi beach where a class 6 student was injured. The incident was brought to the notice of the police Commissioner who in turn sought a report from the inspector regarding the incident.

On January 1, the police here had allegedly lathi-charged youths at Tannirbhavi beach to clear the traffic block. A class 6 student and PU students also reportedly received blows during the atrocity from the police. Locals present in the spot had taken the police personnel to task.

The concerned police constable Sunil was suspended and a departmental enquiry is initiated against him. As of now, no complaint has been filed by the boy or his parents, informed police sources.
