Bantwal: Truck gets stuck to safeguard after hitting it near Mithur overpass

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Bantwal, Dec 3: A lorry got stuck to the safeguard near Mithur railway overpass on Mani–Mysuru state highway and disrupted traffic for some time.

The container lorry that was going to Mysuru from Mangaluru crashed against the safeguard of Mithur and was stuck there. Traffic could move on only one side for some time after the incident.

The Vittal station police visited the spot and controlled the traffic. They took the lorry into their custody and registered a case.

As the national highways and state highways are side by side here, new drivers get confused. The highway work in progress has further compounded it.

Iron barriers were installed at the entrance and the exit point of the railway overpass to prevent entry of very heavy vehicles. Despite this, some heavy vehicles sneak under it, allege the locals.

A heavy licence driver must know and before he passes ,should consider whether he can or not.Simply going through is not a option. He should know height of his lorry and its weight ,hieght.Hope he can read how high is the overpass.Such drivers should simply make to pay the loss made to the employer and bridge .
