Mangaluru, Jan 4: Reacting to BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel’s statement at a party event asking cadres and members not to discuss about roads, drainage but to discuss about love Jihad, MLA U T Khader said on Wednesday December 4, “The BJP have not done any development works in the last four years. All they have done is diverting the minds of people. People have realised the real fact of double engine government. The fuel for the double engine is communal fuel, the smoke emitted is poison, and the engine and body is made out of tears and blood of the poor. The time has come where people will scrap the double engine.”
Over the grant received for Abbakka Utsava, he said, “The state government has released Rs 10 lac for Abbakka Utsava. Rs 25 lac was released in the year 2008 for the same and then every year, there was an increase in the fund by Rs 5 lac. During Siddaramaiah government in 2018, Rs 50 lac was released. After Sunil Kumar became the minister, we expected Abbakka Utsava to be a grand affair. But unfortunately, minimal fund was released which is an insult to Rani Abbakka.”
“The government has also failed in providing BPL cards. Since the BJP took over, there is no maintenance of 108 ambulances nor were any new ambulances purchased. During the pandemic as well, no new ambulance was bought. Our country has witnessed two devastating Covid waves and we are on the verge of facing the third one, but no infrastructure is ready to manage the pandemic. Even the oxygen plants are not maintained and have turned into scrap. The veterinary ambulance is not functioning. No doctor or driver been appointed for the ambulance,” he said.
Khader also informed that former chief minister Siddaramaiah will address a public gathering at Harekala on January 5 where several Congress leaders will take part. “He will also inspect the model gram panchayat and the construction of Harekala health centre,” he said.
