Bantwal, Jan 4: The survey work to identify alleged encroachment of land meant for a traffic police station near Panemangalore old bridge began in the presence of officers on Wednesday, January 4.
The government had approved the construction of a traffic police station building on 38 cents of land along with a tiled building housing the department of horticulture.
The building was not constructed even after three years following approval. The personnel from the housing board who measured the area after the approval found that there was only 23 cents of land. Therefore, the housing board had said that a building cannot be constructed here.
There were complaints that local people have encroached upon 15 cents of land and only 23 cents are remaining out of 38 cents. Therefore, the police department had directed the revenue department to measure the land. The revenue department found that the remaining land is measuring only 23 cents and they have requested through the tahsildar to vacate the encroached land.
It is said that local people have constructed a dwelling house on the encroached land.
Traffic SI Murthy, ASI Vijaya, Suresh Padar and staff were present during the survey work.
