Riyadh: Ramesh Shetty Elected President of KWAR

Riyadh, May 29: Ramesh Shetty was unanimously re-elected president of Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) the year 2011-12 during its third annual general body meeting on Friday May 27 at Banquet Hall of Sholay Restaurant in the heart of Riyadh.

Due to popular demand the top three positions, including that of vice-president Royston Prabhu and general secretary Rajesh Kumar, remained unchanged

The meeting started with a welcome address by Parvez Ali followed by a comprehensive annual report presented by the general secretary Rajesh Kumar financial report presented by the treasurer Jayant Salian.

In his president’s speech Shetty emphasized on the importance of increasing membership and requested members to work for betterment of the society. He covered issues like direct flights to Mangalore, charity programmes undertaken by KWAR, annual event, future plans, etc. He also stressed on the importance of undertaking responsibilities by each and every member of the organization in the coming years, for the success of the organization. He thanked the members and the committee for the support extended to him during his tenure.




















Akhter Shaikh president of Jamiyatul Falah presided over as chief guest of the function. In his address he praised the efforts of KWAR and its achievements within a short span of three years of its existence. He said he was pleased with the activities of the association especially in the areas of charity and social service.

The election committee that took the dais thereafter was chaired by well-known personality Nawaz Gurpur assisted by Parvez Ali. The present committee was dissolved and a new committee with 38 members was formed. Meanwhile, the president Ramesh Shetty welcomed and congratulated the six new committee members who have been just inducted in to the committee.

Vote of thanks given by P M Bhasker was interspersed with wit and humour and succeeded in keeping the crowd fully entertained. Scrumptious lunch served during the function which is enjoyed thoroughly by the members. The programme was beautifully hosted by Parvez Ali.

The following members were elected to the executive committee for the year 2011-2012:

Ramesh Shetty – president, Royston Prabhu – vice president, Rajesh Kumar – General secretary, Suresh Suvarna – joint secretary, Nelson D’Souza - internal auditor, Jayant Salian – treasurer, Rajesh Rao – joint treasurer, Prasanna Rao – public relation officer, Parvez Ali and Eric D’Sa – coordinators, Arun D’Souza and PM Bhasker - cultural secretaries , Prakash Shetty, Sathish Amin and Abulaziz Bankal - sports secretaries, and Abdul Hameed Wenz and Santhosh Shetty - advisors.

Committee members: Rajiv Kamath, Manoj Aranha, Gilbert Sequiera, Hriday Jain, Felix D’Silva, Muzaffer, Manoj Mascarenhas, Shashidhar Haridas, Nazeer Ahmed, Alfred Fernandes, Hussain Shafi, Bonifas D’Souza, Rafi Ali, Haneef Panambur, Mohammed Nawaz, Glen Lobo, Victor Menezes, G K Shaikh, Stany Cardoza, Sathosh K Shetty and Sandeep Shetty.

Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) is a non-profit voluntary organization formed with the broad objective of doing far-reaching social and community services respecting the human values without any barrier and prejudice, with great regards to the Laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to cherish the democratic values of India and rich culture of Karnataka.
